Most of the participating artists were in the crowd to see their meaningful artworks go to the highest bidder.
The whole Carrara Ceilings team, lead by plasterer Paul Stanton who created the most significant work in the collection, a pair of carved torsos resembling porcelain were nervously awaiting the sale of their work at the end of the bidding.
The models, including celebrity models, Celia Wade-Brown, Lorraine Downes, and Paula Tesoriero were on-hand to witness the auction conducted by Euon Murrell of Tommy's.
"We are so proud of what these artists and models have achieved" said event organiser Bette Cosgrove "and now we hope the CanSurvive Dragon Boat team can make them all proud, when we compete against the world in October in the USA. The bids ranged from $400 to $2500 for the Carrara signature piece, with many very satisfied buyers getting stunning art at very affordable prices. The event has drawn thousands of followers at the eight exhibition sites around the region, and on social media, spreading the positive message that you can live a healthy and active life after breast cancer.
